Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2012. Hope you survived 2011. While it was a challenging year for most people I thought there were some positive signs that make me think 2012 should be a great year for us here in Michigan.

It all starts with the auto industry and all three of our great American auto companies made great strides in 2011. We did over 300 installations in 2011 and I can tell you that regardless what you hear on television these days people think the worst is behind us and are feeling pretty good about the future.

We here at Blinds in Motion are looking forward to seeing some of our old friends and meeting new friends in 2012. We have been in business since 1995 and we want to thank each and every one of our customers for all your support over the years. Although we advertise in the phone directories and online, we would not be in business today if it was not for all the referrals and kind words you have given us over the years. We are truely grateful and we promise to work harder than ever to earn your business. And as always we promise to sell nothing but quality products at fair prices, many of them made right here in Michigan. Once again thanks for your loyalty and we look forward to seeing you in 2012.

Welcome to the Fall blog. Hope everyone had a great summer. Now the kids are back in school and we are starting to get ready for what's ahead. If you read the Farmers Almanac you know they are predicting another colder than average winter.  This is the time of year when people start thinking about their heating costs and ways to reduce them. There are some exellent window treatment's that can help drop your heating bill and save you money. Do you know that the Hunter Douglas Duette Architella Honeycomb Shades are such good insulaters that you may actually qualify for a Federal Tax Credit of up to 500 dollars. And right know Hunter Douglas is offering a 25 dollar rebate on them through 2011. Please check our Manufacturer Promos for other rebates from Hunter Douglas.

There's also some new products in the market. One is called a transition shade. It's kind of a combination between a Roller shade and a Silhouette. Another new innovation is a Cordless Roman Shade. Anytime you can eliminate cords, I think that's a good thing. We should have pictures of these products in our picture gallery soon.

And finally, if your looking for that unique gift for Christmas, how about a Blinds in Motion gift certificate. They come in any denomination and make a great stocking stuffer. Please call us if you have any questions about any of our fine products.

Thanks for visiting the Blinds in Motion Blog, we will blog at you again soon.

Hello everybody,

Well it seems like we went right from winter to summer this year, not much nice springtime temperatures but that's Michigan. And that's ok, cause there's nothing like summer in Michigan. I think I'd rather go up North in the summer than anywhere else. There's so many nice area's in Northern Michigan I could spend all summer up there.

Anyway it's been awfully hot this summer and more and more customers are looking for energy efficiency when purchasing their window treatment's. One popular treatment has been energy efficient solar shades. Solar shades can be made into different window treatments. They can be made into panel tracks (typically for sliding doors), roman shades or the most popular treatment roller shades. They can come with different decorative valance options and in a variety of color choices. While they come with different openness factors  5% and 10% openness are the most popular. 5% openness would block out 95% of light and UV ray while 10% openness would block out 90%. Most of our solar shades are Greenguard indoor air quality certified and many are made right here in Michigan.

Another great energy efficient product are solar powered remote control shades. Your treatment's will come down and cover your window when your window warms up and rise off your window when it cools down. There are many great remote control choices that are getting more and more popular with consumers. We will be talking a lot more about them in our next blog.

If you have any questions about these products or any of our other fine products please feel free to call us, we will gladly answer any questions you may have. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and we will be blogging at you again soon.

      Sincerely,

      Ernie & Frank

April 1, 2011

Welcome to the April Blog

Well Spring has spung and as of April 1st you still can't really tell by the temperature outside but we know the warm temps are coming. The Tigers opened up the season, the Wings are gearing up for the playoffs and the Pistons are getting ready to go golfing. And I'm actually seeing a few flowers popping up. It's a great time of year.

It's also a great  time of year to spruce up your home with some new window treatments. The Average time that  window treatments are replaced is seven years according to statistics. Within the last seven years there have been many new innovative products as well as new operating systems like Hunter Douglas ultraglide systym that is available on most products. It is a retractable cord lift system that retracts back to it's original spot so you will never have long cords hanging down. It's a great lifting system many people do not know about. Or for many windows cordless systems might be the way to go. On Honeycomb shades they even come in top down/bottom up where you can lift the shade from the bottom or from the top with no cords. Not only is it a nice clean look but it's also a great safety feature.

So if you have not bought window treatments in a while please feel free to call us for a free in-home estimate so we can show you the latest in window treatments.

Have a Great April and we will will talk again in May.

Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                                                                            Ernie & Frank,                                                                                                                                                                                                  Blinds in Motion
